Central Government Offices to go for Paperless Office

Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office. (DR. JITENDRA SINGH)
(a) to (c): A Statement is laid on the table of the House.
Statement in respect of Lok Sabha Starred Question No.216 for 11th March, 2015 by Shri B.Vinod Kumar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (LS) regarding Paperless Office.
(a) to (c): On the directions of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Government has launched Digital India (DI) Programme which focuses on ‘Maximum Governance Minimum Government’. The Digital India Programme envisages end-to-end process optimization and comprehensive business process re-engineering in new and existing e-Governance initiatives and integration of the services on e-Platform. ‘eOffice’ project is one of the ‘eGovernance’ initiatives of the Government. This project envisages minimum use of paper, documents and files in physical form and streamlining office workflow. An Apex Committee headed by Cabinet Secretary of the Government of India has been constituted to monitor the implementation of Digital India programme of which e-Governance is a critical component. Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DEITy), Government of India has been entrusted with the task of coordinating Digital India Programme which is to be implemented by the Central Government and all State Governments.

(a) whether the Prime Minister`s Office (PMO) has directed all the Government Ministries/Departments to take measures to cut down use of paper and go for paperless office;ANSWER
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) whether any agency has been engaged for monitoring the implementation of the programme and if so, the details thereof?
